Rebuilt Transmission 300D

Anyone done business with "buymbparts" on e-bay? He's selling rebuilt tranny's for 2100 (-500 when core is returned). Shipping included and a 2 yr warranty. Just curious if they are know to the group as I'm considering a new tranny for my 300D.
Thanks.

That would be Rusty, Gary and Jonathon (he's new, but eager). Very, very reliable Georgia boys. They host an annual fall BBQ for MB owners. Been around a long time and sponsor one of the busier MB mail lists. I've dealt with them before, many times, and they are honest and professional.

Did you call Phil at PartShop (our sponsor) to see if he could get a similar deal for you?

Damn, I knew that too, just getting old. I've dealt with Rusty a number of times for my old Ponton. I will check here too before doing anything. I'm not too sure my tranny's gone yet, gotta do some due dillegence vacuum checking first. Just finished digging out from 6000 ft of snow, so it's going to be a while before the old thing gets checked. Just hope it doesn't basket-case itself in the mean time.

rmmagow,

I'd think carefully about buying a tranny from such a great distance. IF there is problems, then you will have to remove the new one and send it back... it can cost you loads more. How much are you going to save vs a factory transmission after paying to shipping on the rebuilt + core?

I would look STRONGLY at buying from mercedes. You can install it yourself(or independent) and MB will do the replacement for free if it's defective. Plus you'll have the 2 year warrentee.

Can't remember if it was on this forum, but someone was recently having problems with a transmission purchased from them.

Why don't you just try to see what you can for your car and just add the $1500.00 (or whatever it costs for a rebuild) plus what you think your time is worth to that and see what kind of other car you can get for that amount of money.
Just my 2¢.
