1987 trans adjustment. How to adjust the Vacuum source

Hello all,

I am working on my 87 300d trans adjustment.

I changed all the rubber and plastic pipe.

my modulator holds vaccuum

The problem I have is firm shifts.

my vacuum to the modulator is 14 inchs Hg.

I want to increase the source vacuum from the IP to the vacuum amp so that it sends a initial idle at 17 inches or so.

I had it at 17 inches for a brief while but now it is back to 14.

I did clean all the orifaces and will do that agian later today.

Is it possible to adjust the source at the IP without too much hassle.

also I could use a little guidance with the throttle adjustment and bowden cable.

Thanks alot

bob c

in addition

vacuum from to IP to the vac amp is 6 inches at idle.

what should that be.

the vacuum from the pump is 18 to 20 inches.

after I cleaned it all out it was 20

I will clean it all again yet I would still like to adjust the IP to send more vacuum signal to the vac amp as I dont want to be cleaning it all the time

thanks again

Thank you for the link

I have read that link before. (actually I printed it out and read it about 15 times. It is a great article.

I after reading it again noticed that it said that you have to rotate the proportional valve to adjust.

That does not seem so hard to do.

I would rather give it more source vacuum than adjust the modulator
.

I will let all know of my progress

thanks

I know your pain - adjusting the Trans is (can be) a big pain as there are so many different actions that cause re-actions. To this day my SDL goes through periods of rebellion (hard shifts). But get the mighty vac out and it won't do it. Here is another link that I found very useful - scroll down to transmissions
