Need an engine...

Do any of you guys, preferably one of you Texas guys, know where I can find a good, used, 300D turbo engine? Need one for my '85.

Mike

Damn, one just went to the crusher at the yard I pull parts from. The speedo in the 300D ('84 I think?) said 135k or so, but the engine looked newer, no oil leaks and looked like clean paint and even some MB stickers on the engine.

Would have bought it just to have a spare, but at $69+$10 core AND being un-employed, I couldn't justify it. Kills me to think of how many good parts and engines get crushed there. Stuff we can never replace. They get a car in and a week later crush it. Very saddening. AND maddening!

That is a shame. What is also a shame is that about months ago I got rid of my '80 300D non-turbo which had a great engine but numerous other problems. What I would give to have that baby back now!!! I think I could have lived with a non-turbo engine and the four speed manual transmission.

Too bad we are not closer. I have a good non turbo thats in a "81" 300d that I am going to use for parts and panels. The Tranny is shot but the engine is strong. I am sticking with 616s.

Connecticut. I've got a running spare in a 300SD I'm stripping for parts. Let me know by PM if nothing turns up closer.
