Does anyone have a clue what makes the "memory" seats work? The power seats work fine but the memory buttons don't do anything at all. I followed the directions to set the memory and nothing happened. What do I look for? Also the dashboard lights on the far left are out..It looks like it is illuminated from the top. How do you get the bulbs out? Thanks a bunch! John

I would have to check the seats.
The instrument cluster is pulled with a special set of pullers. The bulbs are then replaced from the back side. ------------------ Benzmac: Donnie Drummonds 1992 500E (very soon I hope :) 1981 280GE SWB ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN SERVICE MANAGER FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
Im pretty sure that on previous post someone said that the memory seats work via a pcb (printed circuit board) under the seats. My memory seats don't work either in my 84 500sel. It would be a nice feature to have but I can live without it.

The 300 SD uses a seat position memory module (126 820 00 26), located under the driver's seat; failure rate is rather low unless it gets wet; last time I checked dealer list was over $800.
The power seat switch (left front, 002 820 60 12; approx $90) is more likely the problem but you'll need a definitive diagnosis before your start throwing parts (and money)at this problem. |
