I love W116's. That guy is a dealer but at $8900 bucks, I would ask for the receipt for the just installed brand new AC servo.

Just my .02,

I recently sold my father's 1980 300SD that had 106k original miles for $2,500. The car just needed to be re-painted (I got a qoute for $2K) and the front seats re-padded. The dash was cracked, but that could have been resolved with a coverlay dash for about $80. Mechanically the car was in great shape and the new owner drove it to Tennessee from Miami, Fl with no problems. I currently am selling my 1979 450SEL with 66K original miles for $3,500(Hell, for $8,900 I will put in a OM617 engine in my 450SEL!). I believe that the $8,900 is a little too much for the car you describe. If you are interested I have a 1983 300Dt w/168k miles and dealer records which I will be selling soon for $5,000. That sounds like an awful lot of money for a 27 y/o car. Last summer, I passed on a prisitne 83' 300 SD with zero rust, garage kept, and no mechanical issues whatsoever.....even had the factory Becker radio. Oh, he wanted $6,200 and it had 50K miles. I would keep looking.
