Windshield washer reservoir repair (REAR)
Ok, so I'm going to try and "patch" my rear window washer tank... they aren't easy to find... and well... I want it to work.
So, what do you think is good to patch a hole about the size of a quarter? I'm thinking woven rov. w/epoxy (real epoxy, not polyester)... but I'll take any ideas you kind folks have to offer. Thanks, Pete Last edited by GottaDiesel; 12-12-2003 at 07:17 PM. |

Thanks Kerry!
Some more detail... 1. Clean entire tank 2. Rough up plastic in area of repair. 3. Coat area around hole -- maybe 2-3 beyond hole all around with epoxy 4. Set Woven Rov. (not sure which # fabric... but I'll know it when I see it. ) 5. Soak Woven with epoxy. Try to keep in neat. 6. Let set-up. 7. Repeat 4-6 (a few times for thickness) 8. clean/sand make look nice -- that's the idea... what am I missing? Pete |

I've used lots of different epoxies for lots of different kinds of repairs. There is an epoxy available at my local hardware store called 'SuperMend'. I have used it on a number of plastic tanks on RV's. I like it because it is much more viscous than standard epoxy so you don't have to add thickening agents to do vertical surfaces. It doesn't wet out cloth as well. In fact it might be too thick to wet out roven woviing at all.
I use acetone to clean the surface.
