My wastegate was stuck closed
Speaking of wastegates, I just had the problem where mine was stuck closed. I would get so much boost that the overboost cutout valve would activate at 85+mph with my foot to the floor.
I was able to remove the wastegate cover off of the garrett turbo, and free it up by gently rocking the locknut back and forth. Now I still have excellent power, and the overboost cutout isn't activating any longer, which gives me a lot more power. Once that circuit kicks on, you loose about 30% of your power. I suspect that others have had this problem and they "solve it" by disabling the overboost cutout circuit. To each his own. Joe |

Not a bad idea to check older turbos for proper performance. I've heard of missing actuator links on the Garret used on the 603s -- no boost at all since the wastegate is wide open all the time.
