Running to Hot, I just purchased an E300D '95 which has not arrived on the delivery truck as yet (two more days). Has 86K miles and looks as new (from pics, carfax, etc). You've really put some miles on yours - any tips for a new DIY'er owner? Can't wait to get the thing.

diesel contusions

 Being a 300ce owner (91),I wanted to buy another coupe, but only older. I wanted to buy the 280CE, but after being advised that this was the worst gas pot ever built byMB, I have decided that I want this body style but in a Diesel. Which I assume is the 123 chassis, right?. Now the confusion begins: I think I want the 300 diesel, were all these turboed?, on ebay I have read where some 300's were 5 cyl. & also 6cyl. what gives?, were only the 5 cyl turboed or just the 6's?. I want a 300CD coupe, were these available both ways?, for longevity I would think one would want to stay away from a turbo, also because of the expense??. I know the 124 frame is better than the 123, but I like looks of the old 300cd. Please someone out there please set me straight!!. I seem to recall one time, from a local guy that the 5 cylinder diesel was the one I want for the long haul. Sorry for the long thrd. Thanks you guys!!

'78 - '81 300CD are N/A (normally aspired), '82 - '85 are turbocharged. All W123 diesel coupes (imported to the United States) were 3.0L and five cyliners.

Clean machine. If they had bothered to shoot a photo of the engine, they may have noticed it's got only five cylinders.
