About 25% more miles per gallon than a gasser, hp/hp. The normal difference.
Only usefull if you need to haul something very heavy, though -- probably only gets 12 mpg. Peter

His 'boast' about putting a Hummer to shame is BS. That high center of gravity would have you on your top in terrain a Hummer would cruise over.

Isn't that why we've been building roads since the beginning of human history?

I would have to ask if your comment is based on your "gut" feeling or your experience and knowledge speaking about side slope abilities? Would you happen to have the side slope specs for the Hummer or Unimog? I think you would be very surprised at to what angle you can drive a fully loaded Unimog. Please keep in mind that much of its weight is down low between the frame rails and you would poop yourself before you would get that Unimog on its side. Have a look at this site and see at least one instance where Hummers can/did fail to go . There are many other examples of what a Unimog is capabble of but I am not here to start a pissing contest about what is better. The best thing whether it is a car or truck, is the one you own that actually works, the rest is gravy. Seeing as this is a forum about Mercedes diesels I thought I would add a little spice to the pot.

"... previously owned by an ex-bodybuilder/actor/politician celebrity"
Did anybody say Joe Piscopo? (My guess). OK. It was originally purchased as a rich persons toy. (Boy! What I could do with that money)! So now what? This is after all a commercial vehicle. I think its' value will be determined by what it is capable of, as a work truck. And by what alternative vehicles are available that can perform similarly, as well as their cost to purchase and operate. Any guess what it's worth?

Asking price of that one is 145k. It is a stripped down model. It was given to Govner Terminator by MB Unimog as promotional vehicle with a temporary certification to be used on the road. That certification is up. Some states it can be liscensed others it can not. CA is one of the nots.
will it go further than a hummer.... hmmmm... not sure about that model. Odds are YES!! BTW.... that EXACT model is used in the Military so no it is not just a commercial vehicle. Yes, it is also used heavily by commercial enterprises though. The new U500 Unimog sold here thru Freightliner is commercial application designed. The military does not use that model nor will they. It is not as capable off road. The most capable Unimog off road is still the 404 with a full load. Yep..... with a full load. The designed in frame flex is maximized at full load (which was the intent.) These were made longgggg before a Hummer. 60's thru the 80's. When the Hummer made it overseas where they had Mogs; they had to give the Unimog a new name. They gave it a simple name actually. Hummer killer :p (granted this part is hearsay) The newer models have steadily gotten stiffer frames. Will a 60's era 404 out do a hummer off road too? Excpet for needing to do it fast... it will walk anywhere a hummer finds it can no longer travel. Thats not a boast. It's just a fact mam.
