Thanx. Would I get these from MB or injection shop? Do you perchance have a part #. They are cheap but that does not mean I can get them local. Part # will help me determine that.

Again Mucho thanx.

LOL. guess it matters if the quantity of the little boxed trinkets each "gift" box contains starts to look fishy.

Would be glad to, tell me how many you need with the specific part number and I will see how much your total would be with shipping, also I need to know which part of the coloines you are inhabiting, dont forget we were colonies too and now we are commonwealth, the residue of colines still linger strongly among us natives.

The injector seals are steel. There is no need to replace them unless you lose one, which is easy to do. They will stick to the bottom of the injector as you remove the injector, then fall off. Loosen the injector and then when you pull it out of the bore, have your finger below to slide it off the end as the injector clears the hole. If the seal stays in the hole, then simply leave it there.

Pay close attention to which side goes toward the head and make sure they go back in the same way.

Putting the injectors in jars is not a good idea. This caustic cleaner is NOT to be touched by your hands. It is nasty stuff. The best way is to put the parts in the basket and lower the basket into the can for an overnight soak. After removing the basket, it works best to have a bucket of hot water to lower the basket into for a rinse. This is all a PITA, but a very good and economical way to come up with good injectors.

Good luck,

ahhhhhhh thanks good info. I like my fingers Not having individual dunking trays around I think I'll stay with the jars but drain the solution out through a strainer back into the can it came from. Then put hot water into the same jar for rinse before laying the items out to dry. Guess I can use the dunking tray that comes with the can as the strainer eh?.

I have a bunch of these heat shields that I have not used. I can drop them in themail if you want them. Let me know. I have always replaced them when i remove the injectors s they serve as a crush seal. This way i don't have to worry about leaks. I have extras from buying them as seperate parts and finding them in gaskets sets. The only injectors I have ever replaced where to convert an old style injector with the banjo fittings (circa 1969 115 chasis) to the newer style with the little return hoses. I even have spare injectors and inserts available for anyone that is interested.

Injectors rarely go bad. I understand that most nailing problems can be solved with Diesel purge. I have spare cans as well. Those I will use. Nailing can also be caused y the valve in the injector pump. Not sure what it is called but they are expensive.

Injecotrs for $15 are most likely just the injector tip insert and not the whole injector. Sound to good to be true.

Henry

I will check out the part numbers and also need your Zip and State to find out how much shipping would cost.

Gang... are we talking about WHOLE injectors or JUST the nozzle?

I don't think, even in India, you're going to find the WHOLE injector for $15.00 -- my guess it is the NOZZLE only. The nozzle here is about $17.00 for Monark (junk) and $29 for Bosch. But you have to see what type India has... if it is BOSCH for $15 and shipping isn't a killer... COUNT ME IN! :-) (You can get the WHOLE BOSCH injector for $43 here...

I'm VERY interested to see how this goes... for $15 a piece I'd do it just because!

Pete

$15 dollars for a whole injector?!!!!

If is sounds too good to be true it almost always is - If a Monark injection tip is $17 (and I agree everything I've every bought that had a monark label on it WAS trash) how can anybody supply a whole injector for $15??

Anybody want to bet the $15 dollar injector has a Monark injection (or maybe even lower quality....) tip installed?

I've had maybe 25-30 injectors pressure and pattern tested in my 25 years of MB Diesels - I've had to replace TWO tips due to faulty patterns and as I recall maybe three or four of the injectors were adjusted for opening pressure with shims. Injectors are very reliable - have your old ones tested before replacing them with $15 dollar made in India "Bosch" rebuilds. If they are bad buy genuine Bosch tips and have the shop install and pop test your old injectors.

Tim

On second thought, I agree with you dieseldiehard. Too many variables in trying to save a few bucks etd., etc.

The BOSCH injectors are made in India by their Indian subsidiary MICO and therefore priced quite low by US standards, only the 'P' type injectors are costly nearabouts $65 each.

To give you guys and idea about prices, a full OM 616 IP service with plunger replacement here costs around $100 max from a BOSCH certified service center, consider that and compare it to what it would cost you in the US.
