80 300d & 83 300d
I have a 83 300D and I have a guy wanting to sell me a 80 300D. What are the differences. Would any of the body parts exchange. I know the main difference is that the 83 engine is Turbo Charged and the 80 is not, but I suspect the base engine to be the same. How about the transmission?
I'm going to go look at this car (80 300D) tomorrow and I would like a good idea what I can and cannot use off of it. It's really nice to have a place to go as informative as this site and I for one appreciate it. Bill |

Anybody know the differences between the 80 300D and the 83 300D? Can the 80 be used for parts for the 83?
I going to go look at this 80 300D this afternoon and I'm hoping that someone would be able to shed some light. |

The body parts are mostly the same.
The engines are significantly different - enough that you would only want to use very minor things. The turbo engine was strengthened a lot in the internals to take the stress of producing extra horsepower. Not sure about the transmission. The seats could possibly be a slightly different style, but would still bolt into your turbo. Ken300D
