I'd be interested in hearing about this too. Only one I removed was one that was already torn at a junkyard, trying to get the sunroof out.

Need to replace the rear sunroof seal myself (already did the front and the felts)

Add me to list of need-to-knowers... I've got a wagon... but I can still get a lot from any help.

I need to pull my whole sunroof pan, seals, etc.

I posted this same thread before... didn't get too far.

Let's hope we can figure it out.

Pete

If you just want to remove the headliner on the sunroof itself, thats an easy job; open the sunroof 1/3, pull the headliner at the front (firm), when it's loose remove it true the sunroof.

To replace the seal on the back of the sunroof you have to take the sunroof out completely.

Well! Since Uncle Boost is here... LOL

I need to remove the headliner to pull the sun roof pan... I need to clean, patch, and treat it (rust) -- so, I'm pretty sure I need to pull the headliner.

How?

The sunroof headliner comes off with three clips on the front of it. Just open it a bit (sunroof) and carefully open it up (headliner from sunroof). If you don't want to pull on it like that I suppose you could use a wood shim. After it is unclipped you can pull it forward and out. As for removing the pan itself that is detailed in the previously mentioned page.

Thanks Jeff!

Now, what does one do if the sunroof won't open at all? Motor runs. Some kind of clutch thing in the trunk? I see stuff spinning back there but nothing moves at all. It's a 123 coupe and I "think" I remember seeing someplace that the motor runs opposite the 123 sedans.

Happy New Year All. Keep the clatter down to a dull roar !!

Can you open it yourself manually using the little plastic nut on the motor? The sunroof motor has a clutch to save it in case it ran after it shouldn't be. If you can get it to open manually take all that stuff apart and clean the sunroof tracks and such good then try it again. If it still doesn't want to open then I guess you'll have to tighten the clutch on it.
