Question Throttle Linkage Question

Our 1982 240D (w/ recent 300D turbo engine) has some throttle issues.

A few people have suggested that the linkage needs to be reworked upon transferring the turbo engine, but I can't find any specifics with the search function.

1. The piece on the passenger side of the IP is a bit sticky. I've used every lube known to man and can't seem to get it to function properly.

2. In addition, the pedal seems very, very inefficient.

We've put about 300 miles on since the conversion and this is the only remaining troubleshooting to do (with the exception of a better ratioed differential)

Thanks for any advice.

Don

Hi Don , what year is the engine from ? You'll have to look up the proper model year in the manual to see how the linkage on the engine is supposed to be adjusted. When I bought the Turtle the PO had been screwing with the adjustment and had all the rods at the wrong lengths so I could only get 2/3 throttle. Once I had the specs for the lengths it was pretty simple to get full throttle. I still don't why there is a 1/4 "of dead play between the pedal and the IP, though I'm sure there is some sick teutonic logic in there somewhere .If you need the specs I can look them up for you Don , good luck .

The donor engine was from a 1983 300D-T.

Thanks

Don

Kyle,

I think the 1/4 inch free play is to allow the transmission to shift into low gear (when stoped) before the engine starts to accelerate.
