'83 300SD purchase thwarted...

...So, I was already 1 hour into my 6 hour trip from Phoenix to San Diego to go see and purchase a beautiful navy blue 300SD, but then I received a call from the owner telling me it had sold. Arggg! But, I am still determined to somewhere find my blue diesel Benz. Wish me luck. -- Mike

Your a better man than I. I would be venting some harsh anger in my post instead of the tone of your message. Keep the search alive and.

GOOD LUCK!

Oh, man...that's no fun at all.

A friend of mine was looking at an '83 240D, and made the 2 hour trip to see it twice. We were ready to go up there to pick it up (the seller had promised the car to the friend; yeah I know, a verbal promise is as good as the paper it's written on) when the seller told him that he had decided not to sell the car.

Unfortunately, this and a couple of other incidents turned the friend away from looking at an M-B...

You have my sympathy. My wife and I drove to Chigago (150 mile trip) on beautiful sunny Sunday to see an SD. Owner's son said Mom had taken it to the store and "it wouldn't start" when she got out, so it was towed to their new house and left.

We packed the jumper cables and left for Chicago-land. When we arrived, we were told that besides a dead battery that there was mo oil in the car. It seems that Mom had hit something and pulled the drain plug halfway out of the pan, and there was no oil in the engine.

Gee, I wonder why it wouldn't start?

Anyway, it was a nice drive with my wife, all 4 hours of it.

Live and learn.

Good luck to all this new year.

Jim
