Another thing that separates this forum from many others is the sense of community here. Other forums that offer 50 different sections -- one for each type of car -- hurt themselves by separating the members from each other. Here for example, there is a Tech Help section that doesn't exclude anyone. I believe it's that sense of community that brings so many people back on a regular basis.

Where else would I go for talk about my beloved Diesel egine! Other forums have Mercedes Diesel forums but have never had the depth of this place or are dominated by the "big" american trucks.

Fisherman hit the mark when he said that not many posts go unanswered even if it's to suggest using the search function. I usually scan first for unanswered posts and then look at the ones that picque my interest. We're just a bunch of car guys (and gals Jen-Tay )that like to help each other out to keep these wonderful cars on the road.I appreciate the help I've received and the friends I've met (some in person) on this forum. Group hug for Mercedesshop for hosting this great site.

Speak for yourselves regarding ejukashun. I have a BA, contemplated post-graduate work and, for a while, was getting the third degree from my ex.

The thing that has been so helpful to our family is that THIS FORUM has enabled all of us to have our own cars. There is no way economically that this could have happend with domestic stuff, repair shops and replacement insurance.

It enabled us to take a risk, buy a fleet, and keep all the kids driving.

The humble help along the way by MB vets demonstrates the path. Learn and turn around and give back.

Thanks

Don

What's wrong with the "'big' american trucks"?

I don't think I could afford to keep my Benz without the help of this forum.

Exactly the point. If this forum had existed in the mid 90's, I could have saved $2000 by knowing to change the timing chain on a 190E before it broke. And could have saved another $12,000 dumped into a 300E that I should never have bought.

Having this resource, and specifically LarryBible, gave me the insight and courage to buy the 240D. Having learned quite a bit since 1999, I try to give back as much as possible.

I love this place. It's hard to explain. I'm not much of a DIYer, with little confidence in my diagnostic skills. But I really enjoy reading all your posts, and have gleaned considerable, if not theoretical, knowlege about my MB diesel.

I just wish I knew the location of many of the parts, lol. Thanks for your humor and generous insights.

YES I AM OFFENDED!!! MY EGO HAS BEEN BRUISED, AND I'M GONNA SUE THE PANTS OFF OF THE GUY WHO SAID THAT!!!

yes, I'm kidding and g@$ trucks are as useless as g@$ cars. :p

As nice as the vacation was, it's good to be home...especially since I have some time to rest before school starts back up at the end of this month.

Now, I'm gonna go take my big ol' American diesel truck for a drive (my g/f stole the Benz for the day)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

As the late, great Wesley Willis would have said: this forum "Whips the pony's ass with a belt." I can't begin to articulate just how much appreciation I have for the existence of mercedesshop and the incredibly generous advice of its members. I have asked some really boneheaded questions over the past couple years or so, but my appreciation for the MB diesel and my confidence in maintaining my cars (not just my MB!) has increased exponentially thanks to the fine folks here.

If that doesn't work, whine to eBay. You are bound to get results there.

They say; There is always someone smarter or more experienced than you.

This forum has proved that adage many times over. Additionally, the people that post here are also nice, generous with their knowledge and sincere with their advice.

I'm genuinely proud to be a member.
