The TDI Club.com for VW's is about as good as it gets with these type of forums. The people there are about the same as here, and it's about diesels. They are more into GTG's (Get To Gather's) then here, and I like the forum program better, also they have the thing broke into sections for different things like oil & fuel, Biodiesel and such.

I would have given up on my 300D if it wasn't for the understanding and helpful members of this forum. I came close a few times but the members gave me hope.
I don't think AA has the quality of support this forum does.

Sorry to bring this thread up after nearly two months of dormancy, but I have to say again, this is the best forum I've come across. Sure, you can go to other forums for help with your diesel, but, these are some of the actual replies I've seen when a question about a diesel is asked, I think vwbuge will know what I'm talking about :

"Diesel's are efficient and run great if cared but really dont belong in luxury sedans like the w126. Get a gas one!!"

or

"diesel w126's is like a pimp on a budget"

You got people who don't know WTF to say, other than utter B.S. rather than help. I don't come across stuff like that often on this forum. This forum is the best! And as the topic title said, bar none.

I'll jump in on the "group hug"! I too appreciate the advice given and the archives to search!

About 3 yrs ago I bought my first MB Diesel, an 83 Sedan that was grossly mis-represented on E-Bay. Here I was with smelly, noisy, ugly, can't get out of its own way s***box that I had no clue as to how to work on. I'm out 2500 and just figured to put it at the end of the driveway and get rid of it. Bang, my "regular" car craps out so I have to make the MB run and run good since I have an 80 mile round trip to work. Found this site, found out I had very minor problems (plugged filters, poorly adjusted valves, dragging brakes and some very ugly rust holes under the battery), fixed most of it and just as quickly realized I had a pretty good little beater on my hands. Now it's not so smelly or noisy and hauls A** (for a diesel). Still ugly as sin but has potential. The whole family likes it, even my 10 year old said to keep it for him :-).
Without this group, it would have been a 1500 sale at the end of the driveway and probably would have been replaced by a beater rice-burner. Now instead of a beater rice burner, there's a 2nd 300D in the driveway!
Thanks all to this group.
