Question Clicking trans?

Odd one..

Trans on the 300D is going out, 3-4 slip, running with vac modulator unhooked to keep firm reasonably non-slipy shifts.
Any vac at ALL and it slips too much.

Now.

Changed the filter and fluid a few hundred miles ago, added a quart of trans-x, beating the dead horse. In the last hundred miles or so I noticed what I thought was a noise from the brakes, but I can't think of anything that could posibly make such a tight, sharp CLICK in that system. When decelerating, on the brakes lightly, there is a click, usually very close to a downshift. I'm assuming this is a valve in the valve body that has been freed up by the trans-x. Anyone ever heard of this?

While I'm at it, the 3-4 slip is noticably less under moderate to hard acceleration than it is at light throttle. Odd since there's effectivly no comunication between the engine and trans other than the bowden cable(which is adjusted correctly).

I plan to change the fluid and filter again in a week or so to ditch the trans-x. We'll see.

I don't know if it will help but the modulator can be adjusted by removing the rubber cover and turning the adjuster (I think you pull and turn it ) ccw for firmer shifts and cw for softer shifts. Before we had the 300CE tranny rebuilt it made a clicking noise that turned out to be pieces of the clutch pack that was floating around inside , hope that's not the case with yours.Good luck.

Dont tell me stuff like that! :p

It's a very regular click, does not always do it, but when it does it's at a specific time and condition. I'm almost positve it's a valve in there, it's just odd, never heard that one before.

I'm hopeing it settles down after another fluid change.

I've read most of what there is to read about trans adjustment, I think if I turned the modulator preasure up any it would bark the tires shifting in the lower gears. I might actually fab a guage and try setting it correctly just for kicks at some point.
