Anybody know where I can get this part "#123 520 0342
A skid plate for the 123 heavy duty, mostly used in third world countries but also found on th 81' wagon over here as an option. Stephen |

If you mean the under belly pans... Good luck junkyards dont care to look for you or keep inventory of them, so unless you go to one you wont be able to know if they have any. My mechanic and i have been looking for a long time and have still yet to find a set good luck,

I saw the late poist for the w126 skid plate, so Ive brought this one back from the dear regarding the w123.
is there any real benefit to putting a skid palte on an 83 300D sedan? I knwo that partsshop carries it. Does it make it hard to get access for draining the oil? Does it help much with regards to cooling or aerodynamics (the reason they put plastic belly pans on cars these days). If it might make a difference, I might get one... JMH

Partsshop didn't recognize the part number for me. I never knew MB offered it as an option, I wonder what it looks like and how much it covers. It probably does make draining the oil more difficult but I've been thinking of making one anyway. I'd just make it quick to drop off for that sort of stuff. If I make one it'll be for two reasons; easier winter starting and aerodynamics. I don't like how I can see the front of the oil pan and that stuff when looking level to the front end so I'd like something there, also it would have to help keep the motor warm longer and help it warm up with the block heater. My 83 almost never is parked outside but if I run the block heater outside it seems to take a while to get it warm, however if it is inside a building it doesn't seem to take very long. It would also make the car quieter from the outside but that doesn't matter to me.
