Hello! and Please Help with HOOD release?

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been coming to this forum to get tips for the past few months. What I have learned from this forum has been so valuable. Now, I have a specific question. The swicth that is used to open the hood of my 1984 300SD has broken. The metal looking cable is showing, but the thing wont budge. I need to open my hood, might there be another way to open the hood. I wolud appreciate if somebody out there could help. Thank you

There was a fairly extensive thread not too long ago about changing out the hood release cable when it broke under someone's hood. Just use the search function to find that thread in the "archives".
