Transmission not fully disengaging in neutral and park

When on level ground in neutral with the engine running the car pulls forward ever so slightly. Enough that I cannot stop the car with my left foot on the ground... In park the car pushes forward on the park 'stop', and when I turn the engine off (with no parking brake of course) the car will roll back and 'bounce'.

So I can only figure that drive is not fully disengaging or something and gives just a small bit of power that at idle it moves forward. I can rev the engine and the car will not jolt forward or anything. Could idle speed have something to do with this?

Idle speed won't do that. You have a trannie problem.

Hi 190D22.

If memory serves, the shifter bushings need replacing.

I could be wrong.

Louis.

OK. The replacement tranny is off of an '85... would that have anything to do with this problem?

Do I just take it back to my tranny shop and say it needs new shifter bushings?

Seriously??? It just sounds bad because I get some rear-end noise with it and when the car is in park it almost feels like the car is 'skipping' (pushing forward and comming back, pushing forward and comming back...)

If this is normal as you say, then that is great and I guess I won't worry about.

I don't have much knowledge with this exact problem but in both of my MBs I could get them to move forward a little bit (normally not enough to drive over something) if I revved it in neutral, just sounds like yours may be a little more of an extreme case.

Yeah she won't drive over anything in neutral... hell it won't drive over anything in idle haha. I have to give it some 'gas' when i back out of the driveway after it snows and I don't shovel! heh heh.

Thanks for the help and quick replies, guys I really appreticate it. Thanks again.

and here i thought i was the only one who has this... hehe.. when at Neutral or Park.. on smooth level ground.. i can actually feel the car try to move when i rev the engine as if the tranny is engaged ever so slightly...

seems like a normal occurence.. if nobody else says otherwise.. i guess i'll just leave it as is.

By the way.. my tranny was overhauled last novermber 2002.

Mine does it also. Might have to do with the torque from the engine.

Mine does it at idle though... revving the engine doesn't make the car move in neutral or park.
