Ticking in #2 cylinder -or The Telltale Spark
I have a 1987 300 SDL the car is mechanically excellent except, I cannot tell why I have this ticking in from my engine. It’s definitely coming from the second cylinder at idle and under acceleration. The injector has been replaced. And if you kill the spark by spraying water in the tick stops completely.
The engine has great power and will run at 90 mph all day and out accelerates most other vehicles. But that damn ticking is driving me nuts. Any ideas? |

Where do you spray water in to kill the spark? I am also confused as to what spark you are talking about. As far as I knew, there should be no spark at all inside a diesel engine. If there is, I would think you have greater problems than a tick. (of course if there is a spark, maybe that would explain your tick )
