ebay 300CD??

I think ? I want a 300 CD turbo. if the price is right. This one has 210,000 miles, in Southern CA. This would not be an everyday driver, just concerned about the milage, isn't this about reaching its normal life?. I know it probably would go 200-300,000 miles with good mait. Am I correct in thinking that being the car is from LA, it probably hasn't had its glow plugs changed, & then when I get it in a colder climate, I would have to change them. & they usually break off, then the head would need to come off. Then with this kind of milage, one might as go ahead & do an overhaul at how much money ?? estimated $ 7,500??. I know I am ramblin on, or is this the wrong area that I should be concerned about, what else?. I already own a 91CE so I am aware about buying the best, but just want another coupe as a backup, (so to speak). Thanks for any insights
Scotty

How badly do you want the car... They are great cars, but if you really want a diesel, I would suggest gettting a 240D...

Well . . . this car looks okay. I wouldn't be too concerned about the mileage. You can always pick it up and drive over to Enrique's and have him swap out the glow plugs before you drive it up north. What concerns me is that s/he mention a "small" crack in the seat, but don't show a picture. The crack doesn't look like it is in the seat bottom. Most likely, and you would know this because you have a coupe, is that the crack is in the side bolster padding on the left side. You know, where your torso rubs against the seat back every time you get in or out of the car. But, without a photo, who knows.

Looks like they swapped out the radio at one time. Maybe that is why the antenna does not go down anymore? Minor problem anyway. Noticed the aftermarket speakers on the rear dash? And, what is that thing on the right side of the transmission tunnel? Phone??? Did you notice the missing seat belt cover on the passenger side? Funny that they don't mention it. What else did they neglect to mention? Looks like there are some cracks in the dash. Hard to tell for sure with the sun glare in the photo. Dash cracks are very common on SoCal cars. Too much sun and smog. A dash replacement is very expensive and those carpet covers look cheap.

Bobby gives his/her phone number. Give him/her a call if you have questions.

If you want a stock CD, this one might not be the one for you. There are certainly worse ones out there. If it was me, (when looking to purchase, was going to get either a 300CD or 300CE. Found the "perfect" CE first, so got that one), I would make absolutely sure about dash cracks before purchasing. This is assuming that the mechanicals are fine. No way to know for sure with an eBay car.

Good luck.

Oh! Forgot glow plugs. Had to change them on my 240D when I had it, and it was a lifelong SoCal car. Just no telling unless you ask.

And, 123c, the 240D are great cars. I had one! But, as Scotty knows, there is just "something" about the coupes. If nobody ever or rarely sits in the back, the coupes are just so much more sexy than the sedans.

Yes, the back seats in the coupes are very cramped for space. I am 5'6", and I even have a hard time fitting in the back seat of my 300CD. But yes, there is something special about the coupes, but also many parts are unique to them, and cost a little more.
