All I need to be happy is a 46mm socket...thats all i need...all i wanted to do was clean my fuel strainer...NOWHERE can i find a 46mm socket to buy...Ive called Sears, Home Depot, Orchard supply, Post Tool, etc...NOBODY has one!!!!!.... I HATE IT that i have to surrender my will to a non-existant 46mm socket.

All I did was use a pair of vice-grips to lock onto it from the top, then another pair on the first to rotate it. There isn't much torque required for undoing, or to tighen.

A 1-13/16" socket will do it. A 1-7/8" socket might as well.

If you're not going maintaining it for the spring concours, try with a hammer and punch.

Strong arms and plenty of choice words could work

i can get the tips of the channel locks on the nut, but when i wrench on it they just slide off, i cant get a lateral angle on the nut with the channel locks...ill probably need the socket.
When i find the stupid software for my camera ill also post some pics of the fuel that came out of my tank, blue and disgusting!!!

Reverse the fuel supply and return lines and avoid the strainer restriction completely. The return line carries filtered fuel, so the strainer should not be a problem any more.
In the W123 fuel, tank, both the filter and return lines are located at the bottom of the tank.
