fuel mileage and injectors question

Been driving pretty aggressively lately (winter time temps) and consistently getting ~22mpg.

This is with a healthy dose of diesel additive in each tank.

Question tho--with the engine hitting its 150Kmi. mark, I don't think the injectors have ever been touched. The car starts and runs great tho.

Given this, would it be a good idea to have the injectors serviced AND what kind of mileage improvement could I expect? (given that the injectors have typical issues expected from 150K mi.

I have basically the same question. I have a '95E300D coming up to 150K. It is my second '95E300D, as I managed to total my first several months ago. My first had nearly identical miles but got 4-5 MPG better mileage than my current car, which does in fact start and run fine.

So what's different, I wonder? Why would one car get significantly better mileage than the other. Both cars had new air and fuel filters, and both had fresh oil changes, and the overall miles were within a few thousand.

My new one sounds and smells (exhaust) different however, and I wonder if it is the injectors.

Rgds,

I have been getting consistently crappy mileage with my car (18mpg) So I decided on removing and cleaning the injectors with other tune up stuff. NOTHING! MPG didn't increase one bit. Thomaspin has a great website that gives detail on how to do it yourself. Pretty damn easy actually and not that time consuming.

Late injection timing will cause low milage, as will bad wheel bearings, draggy brakes, out of alignment condition, etc.

I wouldn't bother with injectors unless I was getting symptoms of a bad one (hard start, excessive smoke, serious injector knock). The ones in the Volvo have 220,000 miles on them and still work fine. Pop pressure is down a bit, but within the used nozzle range, so I'm not messing with them.
