Has anyone asked permission at their high school to plug their car in?

I am afraid they would just laugh at me. I go to a Catholic High School and there are about 3 buses. The bus cage is on the side of the parking lot. I could park right next to the cage and plug into where they plug the buses in. Has anyone done this at a high school? I don't have the block heater installed yet, but afterwards, I will want a place to plug it in. I guess it can't hurt to ask, I just know I'm going to feel stupid asking.
Thanks
David

You could always just plug in without asking.

Ask whoever takes care of the buses if you ask, they shouldn't care.

Just plug it in, i'm sure they won't have a problem with it. It's always polite to ask first though. I need to start plugging in my car at work... i'm just going to go ahead and do it.

I remember when my nephews reported

that the home town school system (in Minnesota) had switched to diesel buses -- soon they had to build a pole-shed garage for the buses because the kids kept sneaking over there very late at night and unplugging the block heater cords when they were parked outside.

Buddy of mine works for a brewery in town. Whole row of outlets on side of building. In winter, the spaces are for "the diesel guys".

St. Cloud State College

(about 15 miles SE of the mythical site of Lake Wobegon, and 20 miles south of where I was raised) and several towns farther north in Minnesota have long had parking meters with plug-ins on the posts. I haven't been on the site for a decade or more, but it used to cost an extra quarter to get several hours of electricity while you were in classes. These were meant mainly for people with gas-burners to use on the days where the high was to be more than 10 degress below zero, fehrenheit.
