Adjustment of Hood Release on W123
Please advise how to adjust the hood release cable on my W123 300D, as it has been causing damage (previous owner) when the hood is operated, due to contact with the under-dash trim.

Where exactly is the damage being caused. I've noticed that on the 123, the handle tends to rub on the left side against the plastic side cover. Think it can be easily adjusted for that problem, as it should just take a shim under the bracket.

Are you refering to the handle needing to be pulled so far back that it strikes the knee pad? I have that, and assumed it was a stretched cable needing to be replaced. I don't recall seeing anything about adjustment really.

Is there an adjustment, or is it a replacement situation?

Mine was like that... then I noticed that under the hood, the hood release cable had come loose from one of its brackets right where it makes the 90 degree turn from the left fender to the front end of the car, leaving a bit more play in the cable.
It had actually broken the bracket somehow, so I used a tie strap to pull it back and hold it in place, now the tension is right and the release handle doesn't have to be pulled farther than it should :-).

Ok, is there any way to remove the plastic cover up under the latch up front? Looks like the aux fan will be in the way at least.
