W124 Wierd Buzzing Sound

My 300D has started to emit an irritating buzzing noise from the turn signal pod, which stops if I signal left or right. At the same time, the fuel gauge quit working.

Anyone know a quick fix?

Sounds like a loose ground connection in the instrument cluster or a central grounding point. Mercedes ground wires are brown in color. I know on the 123's there is a central grounding point behind the cluster on the column support, not sure on the 124's though.

Check your #5 fuse. I had this _exact_ same thing happen two days ago. The tach, oil pressure, fuel, and temp all died at the same time and there was a buzzing sound that would go off when I would turn on the turn signals. Replacing the #5 fuse fixed all of it.

Hope this helps.

Chris: Bingo! It was the No. 5 fuse. All is well, thanks.
