Coolant hose diameter in 84 300d?

Well, I measured as best as I could and it was wrong...so the car sits in the garage until I get the right one.

The hose in question is the 4" long hose that is underneath the thermostat housing. Anyone know the diameter? I know for sure it is not 2".

Thanks in advance!

Don't quote me on this but I believe it is XXmm, of course it isn't english units. To bad no online parts store can get it in a short length, I got mine from satan for $7. Why not just get the MB part, it always makes me feel better knowing it is the right part instead of something that could work.

42mm ID (called a "stub hose"). Just go to a Napa or Carquest and get their by-the-inch hi-pressure hose. It's actually a few steps up from the stock MB quality (has a braided outer casing). I'll go into town tomorrow and get them to cut 1/2 dozen or so of them. Email me.

just a suggestion, before you go replacing the hose. if it's not clearly leaking from the sides but just from the bottom or top, you could try putting on 2 new hose clamps. it worked for me! also it is a lot less work to do that than to replace the entire hose.

Thanks all,

My hose definately needed to be replaced, glad I found out about it after the long road trip!

TomJ,

I'm going to the big city (Anchorage) today so I'll make a NAPA stop while I'm there. If I have any problems I'll drop you an email. Thanks for the advice.

Chuck
