Glow plug replacement
Just replaced my glow plugs in my '84 300SD. How often should I expect to do this? Is it a normal service requirement?
Thanks in advance for an answer to a simple question.:) |
I just replaced mine after about 6 years. Big difference. I started the other day at -6F, and I don't have a block heater. I would say every couple of years. It seems that they can test ok, which my old ones did, but the tips get funky. Just my 2cents....

This is kind of like asking "how long is a rope?" There is just no way to know. I've had pin type glow plugs last 3 or 4 years, and I've had to replace them as early as about one year.
They used to be about $3 each. With the prices they get for them now, it is a concern. Good luck, |
