intermittant flaring

did a search on flairing. can't say i made progress. the situation. an 83 300dt. if i accelerate slowly, and i mean slowly so as to risk a magnum round to the head from the person behind me, the shifts are perfect. if i accelerate normally, and try to time the shifts, not so perfect but acceptable if i get the timing correct. accelerating with the pedal to the floor, again perfect. now for the problem. if i apply moderate pressure to the pedal on the right, i have terrible shifts and much flaring. especially between 2nd and 3rd. the bugger is showing a little over 290k miles and has had a tranny drain and filter change in the past 10k miles. thank you.

READ the can instructions my 81td took two....

You may have seen me say this before...
But it is a cheap thing to try and many have been happy with the results..
Take about a quart of the fluid out and put in one or two cans of Trans-X... whatever the can says is the correct ratio for your car's trans fluid amount...
Run it a couple of hundred miles before making a judgement as to whether or not it is going to help....
This stuff dissolves built up varnish deposited over the years from the trans fluid.... just putting new fluid in may not have that effect....
