Have the tires been balanced? Does the noise go away after 60?
Thanks
David

TireRack seems to have done a good job with the balancing. This is the smoothist car I have ever had the, wheel is rock steady to 100, I havn't had it past that yet. It doesn't feel like a tire vibration because it goes away above 60.

Sure love it when people take time to keep these jewels from becoming steel for Detorit iron. By the way Jim you are a true mechanic if you say when you get the "paint installed"..........

My compliments.........

You do certainly seem like a VERY thourough sort of fellow. Make sure to post pics when you are done.

You have far more patience than I have.

IT"S RUNNING

Cranked it up for the first time this afternoon. Sounds great and you don't even have to glow it to start it. Got a couple minor leaks that I am going to have to address in addition to getting the parallel flow condenser hooked up. It will be going back to the body repair guy for a full paint job over the next day or so and then I will get the condenser installed and hooked up.

Drivers side front shot. The guy doing the body work is supposed to come pick it up this week to complete the body.

Don't let the machine shop knock the plug out of this hole. I found it after I drove the car the first time. I tapped the hole and will be installing a plug in it over the next day or so.

Engine cranks up without, it seems, turning over good one time. There is a new paved 4 lane road near the house that is not open yet. I have taken it up there and run it every day since getting it going. Runs out good and the cruise control works. It is going to need an alignment.

I'm not sure William. It is kinda like a blue/silver color. I will post a pic after the car gets painted.

Hey Jim, I've been following this thread as you've been sorting this car out.

Your first post notes that it is your friend's car and that his insurance company totalled it.

Are you doing all of this for your friend and he will be paying you for your work, or did you buy it from him? If so, do you plan on keeping this car or are you gonna sell it to the highest bidder?

My friend (Wayne) paid for my services. The guy doing the body work (another person who does this kind of thing "on the side" as a hobby) picked it up yesterday afternoon and will be painting it over the next month or so. I also gave him the parallel flow condenser to mount. After he finishes we are taking the car to the guy that builds hoses to make up the hose assembly for the new condenser after which time we will get the a/c going.
