seat removal trouble

i am trying to remove the seats in the 300. i understand there are four bolts to remove. i am having trouble with the back two. first there is a cover blocking access to the bolts. does that come off a certain way? thanks in advance guys. it is supposed to snow tonight and so i'm getting me weekend auto repair fix while i can.

You have to slide the seat all the way forward on the fore and aft adjustment tracks (the handle at the front of the seat) and on the height adjustment tracks too (the pull-up handle on the side of the seat).

I'll post a pic in a second.

I was wrong. All you need to do is slide the seat fully up/forward with the height adjustment (the handle on the side).

The pic shown is with my seat fully back and adjusted up.

Pulling those seats is an easy job. I wish I would have realized that before when I tried putting sheepskin covers on them. It would have saved me a lot of blood. Man, there's a lot of sharp edges under those seats!

ok. i have two requests.

1. i can't get the the bolt (like your picture) because there is a hard plastic thing covering access to the bolt. obviously the plastic thing has to come off first. it looks like it should slide off.
removing the screw at the end of the rail does not help either.

2. secondly, everyone has been emailing me about palomino color. i would hate to say yes it is and it end up being something else. it is a brown orangy color. it's all shades of brown. the seats for example, the 'ribs' are slightly darker than the sides. the door panels are the most orangy looking. the dash is black.

is there anything in the vin or manual that will tell me what the color is?

Sometimes seat tracks will get cruded up to the point where they will not move fully in one direction or another. I think I had to use a swivel on an extension to get the rear bolts out of mine, and a 1/4 inch drive socket and ratchet on the front. Do you have the seat as far as it will go up? That seemed to help.

There is a color code for the interior I believe, but I can't recall where it is. One of these guys will..

I just looked on my windowsticker to be sure of mine..

That cover should just pry off Jennifer.
Why are you taking them out? They are quite heavy so when you remove them have someone help you of anybody is around. Otherwise use proper lifting procedures. You will want the seat back kinda in the up position and tilt the seat sideways and bring it out through the front door. Twist it around to clear as you remove it. More pia than anything else.
