Overfilled Transmission?
 

I checked my tranny fluid level after I saw some drops under the car. It was a little low, about 5mm from the top mark, so I topped it off with 5 ounces.

I drove the car on a highway, then checked it again, its like 1/8 inch above the top mark. I've tried to syphen some off, but its still like 1/8-14 inch above the top mark. I've driven like 200 miles like this so far, is my transmission in danger? Thanks in advance.

I've overfilled a few automatics in the past with no problems other than they tended to leak a little from the vent lines when they sat until the levels came down to near normal. I'm not sure if the same would apply to a MB though. I'm sure someone out there will be able to tell you for sure.

It is not easy to get it correct... so don't feel bad...
However, they are very very specific about not having too much or too little in the trans.... for sure over will cause frothing which constitutes aeration... with is oxidation... which can half the useable life of your fluid BUT FAST... like getting it too hot rocking it to get out of a hole ( in the old days )... the half life can be minutes over certain temperatures...

Just curious - why would you touch it if it's between the two lines?

Use a mighty vac with brake bleed unit attached to suck out the extra fluid.
If it is between the lines when hot, do not touch it.

I touched it up for it was between the two lines, I noticed some slip and I did see some drips. I now know it was a stupid thing to do, just it was only 5 oz.s. So, do I have a problem, just slightly above the top line? Tranny shift slightly better and drive great. I'm having the tranny serviced soon, and the fluid happens to be under 3k old, due to the fact a mechanic left my dip stick out and I insisted he replace the fluid for cleanliness sake... Thanks!

It would not be much trouble taking a clear tube and taking out that 5 oz... but if you are ok with it being high and are servicing it QUICK... then I guess you don't have a problem...
