E300 Started Nailing Recently

My 99 E300 has started sounding like my old 300D recently. The odometer just turned 63K miles and at idle she definitely is nailing a bit. Lubro-Moly worked great on my 300D when I used to feed it directly into the injection pump to clean the injectors. Any instructions on how to do this on the 606 engine? I know I could put it in the tank but the results were much better using the direct feed method. I'm not sure where the return line is on the E300.

Somebody just posted about this on a 95 E300. Had to be recent because I read it this morning. Anyway, the real problem is that the fuel lines are buried under the intake manifold. Maybe you can get to them by removing the washer bottle, as the post this morning suggested. Or maybe you can get to them from underneath by removing the belly pan. If you find a convenient way, be sure and let us know.

Just a few days ago on my 97 I added a full bottle of Primrose and I haven't heard a peep since. Although I know that the amount I added was overkill, but it does a far superior job over Stanadyne All-Season as far as adding lubricity to the fuel. It could just be to the lower lubricity of the fuel getting to your E.

If it is a lubricity issue you could try Stanadyne Lubricity additive.

Cool

Do a search for (diesel purged my e300td) This will help you some. I learned the proper discription for the car should be E300 turbordiesel.

I don't know where the supply/return lines are for the fuel pump on the 606 engine, but the LubroMoly can instructions say to put both the supply and return lines into the can (bypassing the fuel tank), and run the engine at various speeds until the can is empty.

That's just the problem. They are buried under this big, beautiful intake manifold.
