Part interchangability between models
Does anyone have a good idea on how to find online (or other) resources regarding general parts interchangability between Mercedes models?
I am buying a 1993 300D and have a wrecked 1989 420SEL and am about to give it to charity, but if there was some way to get some real value for it I might consider keeping it and parting the unusable parts out to others and reusing what makes sense. I am trying to not get into specific part numbers and I obviously know sheet metal and engine parts are not the same. Things like AC, transmission, trim pieces, electronics compatibility etc. Again, a summary of compatible sub-systems or something like that. Any ideas? |

Googled for it, and found references but nothing when I added search term='Mercedes' Have to look at the sites listed for more detail, sounds like just what I am looking for, but hoping for online version as time is short - the body shop where I have the 420 is pushing me to get it out...
Thanks for the tip. |

Just curious, where are you and how much would you want for it? How bad is the damage?
Thanks David

spwilliams,
If you decide to part it, I'm looking for the body side molding that goes between the drivers side rear wheel well and the rear door ( about 3-4" wide ). Prefer Astral Silver, but not that picky. Thanks, Mike

Wrecked 420SEL
I do not have a picture right now, maybe I'll take one this weekend.
Car hit a phone pole (jumped right out in front of me!) at about 10-15 mph. Unfortunately (for me) it destroyed rf fender, hood, and rf suspension, but is moveable/drivable - at least onto wreccker. Car has 145k m, runs great, interior good, not perfect, black, blue leather, all toys. Recent valve guides. New tires and brakes. Located in Stamford, CT. Anybody wants it, make offer - right now not parting piecemeal. |
