Balance on a 2.4
Hey all, I'm putting a new 2.4 in my Land Rover...yes, Land Rover, and I have a question about balance. The new motor is from an automatic and the old one is a standard shift. I'm swaping the flywheel from the old motor but it looks like it might need to be "timed" to the engine. Is this the case or doesn't it matter how the flywheel is oriented?
Thanks for the help. Jim Here's a picture: |

There are very small and hard to find little matks that need to be lined up on the crank and flywheel. I just did one. (616) The engine was an automatic and I bolted her up to a 4 spd. If you do a search, I think it was R Leo that posted pics of the marks.

Neat project!
You should do a search on this forum using the word flywheel or maybe flywheel and balance. There are some very good threads in the archives that I feel quite confident will give you the info you seek. Enjoy your project and keep us informed how it goes. Have a great day, |
