Hello everyone,

It is a good thing that my car is not alive as it would have died along time ago from my lack of skill. I am enveyous of anyone who can actually fix things.

I am referring to my chronic trans leak. Here is the history. I had it sealed by a local shop and that seemed good. Switchted it over to synthetic and that seemed ok. I also had adjusted the bowden cable of which i might of had too much tention on. I do not know which of the events are causative but something is amiss.

I did replace the gasket and torqued it down with extreem care to spec.

I leaks just a little bit but that is enough to piss me off. Here are my thoughts.

1. problem with bowden cable as it inserts into the trans. Maybe I messed up the oring when I was playing with the adjustment cable.

2. Maybe my pan is leaking because it got worpt somehow.

3. Is the synthetic leaking past something it shouldnt. The whole trans was sealed so I would hope not.

4. Maybe it is time to buy a vw tdi while they still are importing them into this diesel hating country.

If you don't like fixing things when they break, don't buy a VW! Cheesy electrical components and plastic parts are the source of many headaches, some are very expensive (coolant migration through the wiring harnesses, just to name one).

How much does your transmission leak, and can you tell where it is coming from?

I don't even understand what " sealed the whole transmission " means.... what does that mean to you ?
You don't appear to know exactly where it is leaking ... is that true ? If yes, then you need to clean it and drive it a little .. then look at it.....

I had the trans front seal repaired and the shop resealed a list of gaskets when they did it.

I dont know where it is leaking from and I will clean it off and take it for a litttle drive and see what happens.
