Lightbulb 210 vs. 211

I like the front end of the new 211, but the back sort of makes me cringe. My mom has a 2002 210 (E320 4Matic) that's a very nice car inside and out. Hopefully there won't be too many quality control issues with it... we'll see.

I suppose my vote is with the 210 if I was forced to decide between the two in their current states. Maybe the CDI engine would change my mind.

I love my W210 Estate. Big, solid, handsome design that delivers in performance and handling. Although I do kind of like the softer, curvier look of the W211 interior. A significant detraction of the W211 is the loss of cargo space compared to the W210.

W210 gets my vote

I see the 210 - 211 the same way as 116-126.. both are nice looking cars, but I LOVE the look of the more modern 211... the same way as I love the 126 because it looks more modern than a 116

Is it me or the interior volume on the w211 is less than that of the w210? I sat in a w211 at the dealer and it seemed firm and tight, but a little smaller than my w210. ( I am 6'4" if it matters)

The new w211 is gorgeous except for the back end. I love the back end on the w210 but with the 18" monoblock wheels, the rear-end on an angle looks so much more sexier.

I'd like to keep my w210 till she becomes too costly to maintain, which I don't think will be for a while (fingers crossed). The w210 definately gets the looks everywhere you go. I think it's amusing when you drive by and people of all ages stop and stare, just to see you drive by. The w210 has that Benz appeal to it. The w211 has it as well, but you turn away as it passes whereas on the w210 you hope it turns around so that you can get another look.

I won't consider a new E320 CDI until I know they have straightened out most of the general faults with the electronics, and lets hope this new engine won't be as troublesome as the last turbo in the states...

From the sources I've seen, the E320cdi won't be the same engine as the eruo E320. The US will get a V6 design better suited to meet emissions .

We'll never see an I6 (be it gas or diesel) in a Mercedes again on US shores.

Unhappy

A V6?? I was truely hoping for another inline engine, since Mercedes builds them like no one else.

I'm feeling slightly depressed now.

Shedding two tears from the left eye for that crumpled E55. At least the interior shows so, but then again, I don't remember them being green?

Where have you read news about the engine configuration for the new diesel. I was reading in my current issue of Motor Trend with no mention of a V-6 diesel...

Here "featuring second-generation common-rail direct-injection diesel technology attached to a 3.2-liter V6 engine equipped with a turbocharger."

I can't find my others, I forgot what thread I posted them in. Yes, it might be a typo, but this is not the only website I have seen this on. One states specificly that the usa will get a V6 and not I-6.
