26 MB's

So I'm at my local repair shop today shootin the breeze because this mechanic knows everything about MB diesels. We need a new tranny for my brother so he gives me a phone number of a guy named 'Kurt' who supposedly is as crazy as I am.

I look at the number and am amazed because its the same pre-fix as mine so he must be close.

Called him tonight and about fell off the chair. He started collecting older MB's a year ago and has 26 of them. Sure, some of them are gassers but his favorite is the 116 diesel. He lives 5 miles away.

Guess who I'm meeting for lunch next week? Parts cars, collector cars, you name it, he has it.

At the end I asked him if he was on 'mercedesshop.com' and he said, 'no....the only thing I'm on is drugs'.

26 MBs, who needs drugs

Hello Don
26 MBs is a lot.
Hmmm, perhaps I could take the day off and join you.
Naaaa, too blasted much work right now.
Three restorations, and a lot of small stuff rolling in.
I have a friend who answers his phone:
"Shut up and give me more drugs."
The sad part is that he is terminal brain cancer and not joking.

Have a great day.

Who needs drugs when you have 26 MB's? I don't care, running, non running, 26 old MB's would get me real high!

26 MB's is crazy! I can't imagine anyone maintaining 26 cars in good running condition, doing all the fluid changes, valve adjustments, etc. My 3 cars keep me busy enough. I wonder how many of those cars run and look good. Anyway, I too would like to see his collection. Could anyone snap some pics?:D

Rest assured that not all 26 are in good order. He has been buying up stuff on ebay from the South. I would guess that 5-10 of them don't run and are parts cars. He has 3 SL's however that sound in real nice shape.

The township got on his case and he had to split up his cars into three different properties. I'll try to get some pics when I meet him.

Hello JenTay
diesel don is lucky, he lives the boondock rural life in farm country, just outside a major city.
The fellow would not need to register or insure them.

Where at in Michigan is he located? I live in Ft. Wayne, IN which is northeastern. I have a 116 diesel, I may be selling it soon though to get a finnie or just sell it when I can to get rid of it for college. I want to go to Hillsdale, MI for school. I will have to apply early next school year. Won't be taking my car, it doesn't like the salt here.
