My diesels
My situation. Four vehicles in the driveway. Two people to drive them. Doing the math (duh!) indicates something has to be done about this. Insurance is high in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as are excise taxes, etc. It's more than a little foolish to keep forking money over to the "powers-that-be" just for the luxury of extra cars. I have an '85 300SD with 220K on the clock, everything except the power antenna works. Has four snows on alloy rims. Needs exhaust work, an injector, (I think) and a new home. I could donate it, I guess, but would rather see someone with an interest in an MB diesel have it. This is my daily driver, forty miles a day. When the weather is warmer, it routinely gets 450 to as much as just over 500mi. per tankful. I have changed the oil religiously every 3000 mi. Yes, the car does need some work. It began it's life in Calif, for the first hundred thou or so miles. A gentleman who lives on Capital Hill (D.C.) owned it until 190,000mi. I bought it from him several years ago when I lived in MD. We moved here in 2001. Up till then, it was garaged. We have no garage, so driving it here (Mass coast) has resulted in the beginnings of some rust. How do you market a car that has that kind of mileage(220K) on it? I don't want to E-bay anything as I would not wish to have misrepresented it's condition. Kind of a subjective thing, wouldn't you say? Ads in the newspapers are pricey, I do not have the required ten posts in the Forums to list in the "Cars or Classifieds" section of the MercedesShop site, so
I'm listing here in the hopes an interested party will contact me, maybe we can help each other. Oh, yes, the other car. I will make another post. It's a wagon. If anyone has an interest, please e-mail. Thanks.

Just make a few posts so that you're allowed to post in the Classifieds forum. You only have 4 more to go.

Thanks
Thanks, Vee Dub. A not-so-thinly disguised four more posts and I guess I'm golden. I do hope to hook up with someone interested in running these great cars. When I think of parting with them, I sort of get a little knot in my throat. The black sedan has been my favorite car of all time. Anyone who runs an SD knows what I'm talking about. Does the job. And with economy as well! Gets in the twenties for fuel mileage. We need to cut down to two vehicles. Keeping the old Ford Explorer to pull the boat. Bought a more recent wagon for our camping, kayaking and visiting (most of our relatives live at least 12 hours from us) purposes. The wagon, although having 250K on the clock, is really in splendid condition. I can't afford the luxury of a car I won't drive when the weather isn't good, so I have to sell. The cost of housing around here, as well as the cost of living here in general preclude having "hobby" cars. Man I hate the idea of parting with them.
Need to face reality though.
