Will a 5-speed '87 190E trans fit on a '83 300d?
 

Hello, I think the answer is no but, does anyone know if the 5-speed manual transmission from a 1987 190E fit on a 1983 300d?

Nope, among other things, the starter is on the wrong side.

Won't fit, but I like where you're going. Wish I could find a way to adapt a T5 or ANY 5-speed instead of the 240D 4 speed I adapted to the 300.

Would be nice to tick over at less that 3k rpm at 65 and an OD 5th would help with that. Running a different ratio rear would help with the top end, but would lose it in takeoff, so I've decided against that.
