Harvey,

That's a tall order, these cars have such an overwhelming amount of raw horsepower, that it's very difficult not to "break 'em loose" every time you leave a stop sign.<g>

Have anice day,

Tranny jack.

The tranny jack that is regularly "on sale" at Harbor Freight is worth its weight in gold. I've done four tranny jobs with it, and hope to get one more out of this one before I have to go by another (look at it as a "disposable" tool; though if you're just doing MB manny trannies, it might last a lifetime!).

Jay.

Larry

I've done both jobs recently (pull eng/tranny & clutch job) and defiantly wouldn't pull the engine too do the clutch unless I didn't have a trans jack. Just seems like allot of extra work too me. The impact wrench makes things go allot faster and easier (flex disc, bell housing bolts and much more ) It is nice if you can have a helper standing by to hand you stuff you forgot when your under the car

I'll definitely do mine from the bottom. I've got so much cr@p on my engine, it would take longer to get it in/out that the tranny.

I pulled up this thread because I was pondering if Larry's 240 is a five stick or not.

I couldn't resist making a comment. I'm pretty sure Larry is older than I am and my comment is that I can still do about anything on a car standing up as well as I ever could but getting up and down really sucks at my age.

Its enough to make you plan ahead so that you can do a job without getting up and down for the odd tool that you forgot to bring along.
