'82 240d thermostat
Greetings...
I just bought my second MB, and my fourth diesel, and this is my first time on this forum. I have an 82 240d with 273K miles. I think she may be running cool, as the temp guage is reading about 40. The heater produces OK heat, coolant is full, and it runs smoothly. My recollection is that my last MB's temp guage was almost always at 80. First, would you say that IS cool, and are there any other ways to check? Could it be anything other than thermostat? Are there more than one types/temps of thermostats? If it is the thermo, where on the engine is it located and are there any tricks to replacing? Thanks, JoeZ |

You need to do a search because much has been posted on this... including pictures from the MB manual...
Use my name on the right hand side of the post criteria to narrow it down... then look for a thread started by TheWarden... 40 does sound way low... 80 is a typical temp thermo used on our cars.. so you may have a problem.... Last edited by leathermang; 03-04-2004 at 10:25 PM. |
