I do my best to keep good records, but occasionally something small will be missed...like maybe an oil change or something.

I also keep a fuel log...

I write down whatever I do to the cars. I have lost many of the records though.

I never write down the oil change mileage, just guess when its been about 2500-5000.

I keep three logs on excel spread sheets:

One for fuel purchases showing date, mileage, gals, mpg, and cost.

Another for maintenance and repairs showing date, mileage, repair performed, and cost.

And a third chart listing the dates that I waxed the car or applied conditioner to the leather.

I've seen Suginami's car up close. I expect that the wax spreadsheet gets a lot of entries. His car looks as close to brand new as you will find.

I keep a book in the glove box of all my cars. I log every fuel stop, oil change, repair, tires, etc. In chronological order.

Each entry has date, mileage, action, gallons and MPG(if fuel is the action.)

My $0.02,

About like the rest, I log maintanance, what I replace, when within a month, oil changes, fuel every stop, stuff like that. Been doing the fuel log for years, just started the maintannce with the MB. Logging repairs on a VW with the mileage mine have gets to be an exercise in repitition.. :p

I too track everything (fuel, parts, service and mileage) in a multi-page Excel spreadsheet, plus try to keep all receipts in a separate folder for each car.

I do not track washing and waxing, but I do run a line graph of my fuel mileage.

I don't actually keep track of washing, but I enjoy polishing and waxing both of my cars myself, and I don't like to let them get too long between waxings.

They never go longer than 3 months, and they are on different schedules.

I find it impossible to remember when each car was last done, so by recording the data in an excel spreadsheet, I never have to remember.

I also input what products were used and how they were applied: by rotary buffer, random orbital, or by hand.

It's also informative to look back and see how different products / combinations have held up.

I keep...

1) Records of every fill up...
2) Records of every service...
(In keeping with the previous owners record keeping, I maintain all of this in the Service Booklet (well into the 3rd one already). I also maintain a spreadsheet...
3) I also keep a spreadhseet of a list of items that should be done on a mileage interval or time interval. When I change the oil for example, I type in the mileage and it will calculate the next mileage interval to change the oil (or date for things like shocks)....so, at a glance, I can look at todays date and the mileage on the car and immedialtey know what is needed.

Not sure this will copy to well...here goes!!!!

I keep a set of maintenance records with 4 columns for every one of my cars: Date, mileage, work done and who did it. I'm probably gonna get rid off the last column because all the work in the past half year was done by me and the column is getting a little bit repetitive. I do calculate my fuel mileage every now and then, but I don't keep a fuel log because I see no reason behind it.
