The standard upholstry in the 1999 E300 is the perfect combination. Perforated leather in the center where you sit, with MB Tex on the bolsters where the seats wear the most. If recovering seats, I would have an upholstry shop custom make that combination.

Sheepskins on Tex...

Can anyone tell me if sheepskins will help with the 'sweat factor' of the Tex. I would assume that a layer of breathable material between my pants and the vinyl should help.

Let me know as the weather is getting warm here in Ca and my dry cleaning bill may get out of hand.

Thanks...

Anthony

IMHO i love my blue cloth hounds tooth inlay flanked by dark blue vynal/MB Tex...breathable, soft, comfortable, durable (slight fade).
not hot or sticky in the summer, not too cold on a cool night...

when ever i look at another w123 i am turned off a bit by the monocromatic stale leather or MB Tex interiors...no personality to me.

I agree completely. I would kill for a full set of the OEM velour covers to fit my 123.

If forced to pick between leather and MB-Tex, I think I'd pick the Tex for the wear qualities. However, I really dislike sitting on vinyl/leather seats; I find them really uncomfortable, not ot mention the "stickum" factor in the summer...

I agree wholeheartedly with jeremy on not being able to figure out how leather became the "luxury" option...

Leather feels excellent, and MB-Tex has excellent wear characteristics. I will have to see how comfortable the leather seats are in the summer time.

My 190D had navy blue MB-Tex with sheapskins over the front seats. It was really comfortable, but I didn't like the feel of the back seats... a bit too plasticky.

So far, my vote is with leather... although mine could use some conditioning.

My 320i came with a driver's side synthetic grey sheepskin. I never took it off.

My 300D came with driver's and passenger's side synthetic grey sheepskins over perfect palomino MB-Tex. I think I might keep the covers. The one thing I don't like about them is that when I scoot my butt forward, the cover moves with it a little bit. otherwise, no complaints!

I like the leather in my SD. There are a few small cracks but overall the leather is in astonishingly good shape for a 22 year old car. I'm going to refinish it and it should look good as new.

The butt stickage is an issue for me as it gets really hot here and I prefer to wear shorts whenever possible. This winter the seats never really felt cold like MB-Tex(Vinyl) gets.

I also like the aspect that whenever I stop to pick up an animal rights "hippie" they refuse to ride on the backs of roughly three dead cattle:p :p

Hi
In my 85 380SL I have MB tec. It is durable and comfortable and easy to clean. In my 94E320Sedan the front seats have the sheep skin fabric purchased from MB dealer. Thet really protect your seats from all the elements. Same in myE320Cabriolet the sheep skins. They are warm in thw winter and soft and cool in the summer. I am happy with both. Happy driving.
