I bought my e300d with 86K miles.
I now have 127K. Over 41K miles: 10 oil changes - $500 4 new tires - $500 shocks/struts/alighnment/labor - $1000 fuel filters and air filter- $50 front/rear rotors, pads, calipers + labor - $1200 fuel injection return lines - $150 (mostly labor) Parts/labor = $3400 fuel: 41,000/30mpg = 1366 gallons X $1.50 = $2049 3400 + 2049 fuel = 5449 41000/5449 = 7.5 per mile Depreciation - probably cost to $8K, maybe more. Ouch Then again the original owner paid around $40K for the car, now I feel better. Last edited by chuck95e300d; 03-21-2004 at 09:44 PM. |

HMMM interesting stats.......I will have to put pen to paper and figure out what my 96 E300 has cost me. I suspect it is in the close to Slowmoe's.

Correction to chucks calculation
Chuck....your cost is actually 0.133 cents per mile.
Almost exactly the same as sloemoes At 7.5 cents per mile, you would need some deep pockets to maintain that cost

I also didn't include car insurance. That is around $60/month. |
