Question 300SD Engine overhaul...

I bought two 83' 300SD's but only one has a fairly good engine. But the other one has a better body as you will see in the pictures. I am planing to take both engines out and replace the bad one with the good one. Thing is what should I do to my engine when It is out of the chassis. Should I do valve adjustments, new engine mounts, what should I really be looking for?

Any information will help.

Is it possible to put two alternators on my 300SD?

I was thinking of this because I will be putting a fairly stong sound system. Plus I want to put an alarm, auto start (if possible)

Thanks--

the milage on the better body, only considering the transmision for the milage since the eninge is blown, looks like the pistons became to hot from poor lubrication and just broke the bottom of the engine I can see the piston hanging, form what I can picture it??? correct me if im wrong or sound wrong

I'm curious as to the engine condition in the grey car. If they didn't take care of the cosmetics at all, what makes you think they ever changed the oil but once every two years.

The grey one I owned for about 2 years acyaully its the creamy one that I just bought.

I had a few accidents as a junior driver so thats why it turned out that way. Other than that I always changed oil and obtained Deisel fuel from highway station like (FlyingJ)(Piolet)

Plus it has 156,000 miles which is not bad.
