What do they do after 1,000 miles? The mechanic told me the warranty will be void if I don't bring it back after 1,000 miles. The engine was shipped from Germany and installed by that shop about 3 years ago. Thanks...

I had a new engine installed in my 240D/77, that engine came from the dealer, that was two years ago, the only requirement that I can recall was the first oil chage, oil & filter @ 500 miles and not driving at sustained speed for the initial 500 mile.

I think the engines come from the factory with special "break-in" oil in the crankcase. It needs to be changed out after a relatively short period.
