OT: Some recent info about Delvac 1 oil analyses
If anyone gets delvac 1 oil analyses that look like there is elevated Fe readings, I have read from one study that the mechanism that makes boron an effective antiwear agen is its combination with iron atoms. So, the analysis may actually be looking at iron borates or something like this, rather than actual wear. I suppose, that said, regardless of the ppm of Fe in the oil, not all of it is necessarily due to wear.
I have seen analyses of virgin german castrol (0w-30 syntec sold at autozine with made in germany on the back), with as high as 8-10 ppm of iron, just out of the bottle. I suspect this is a similar additive setup. D1 is a spectacular oil, it would be interesting to see a virgin oil analysis, to see if its actually protecting better than thought. Ill try to post a link if I can come across the article. JMH

I read somewhere that Delvac 1 will be sold as Mobil 1 light truck and SUV formula. It should be available this spring. I havn't seen it in Houston yet. Heres the link:

Yeah, based upon the CI-4 specs, it will be the delvac. Unless they did something odd like beef up the adds in the 0w-40 and re-grade it as a 5w-
You never know with mobil, they change their adds often, but at this point I doubt it. So long as they keep the boron in it, and its cheap, Im happy. JMH

Why wait? Checker auto is stocking it as we speak, bought a case last week and a few more quarts this week.
Here's pic of a container: It does appear to be Delvac 1 and at $5/quart, it's a little cheaper to boot.
