2. Are you filtering it before adding it to your tank? 3. Is there an increased amount of smoke coming from you car? 4. What about putting all that soot back into your engine, don't you think it causes damage? Two gallons of fuel saved verses potential damage doesn't add up in my book. |

rdanz,
To answer your questions: 1. Brand of oil: Mobul 1, Castrol Syntec, Rotella synthetic and multiple brands of Dino oil. 2. Yes I filter the used oil before I add to Diesel fuel. 3. No noticeable difference in smoke 4. Soot damage, No problem. Only the smallest soot particles will get thru the filters and that will just burn (its just carbon) with the Diesel fuel. P E H |

Of course if you do it in California, the Air National Guard will mobilize an Apache strike on your ass for poluting our precious environment. Your Mileage, as they say, May Vary.

My first ever fill
First fill in my newly acquired '84 SD and I had to go to 6 stations before I found one that had diesel. Right next to the community college so I got ripped off at $1.65. My next fill was 300.5 miles later @ 23.35mpg all city driving.....and I paid $1.57....getting better.....then last night saw the best price I have seen was $1.55 at a Diamond Shamrock.
Going to give my fuel economy it's first highway test this week....have a six hour drive (one way) to go to the outlaws.... Can't wait to see what happens on the highway!

Here in Santa Cruz, California, I have seen diesel as high as $2.35. Most stations have diesel for the same price as regular gasoline.

Diesel is running me $1.67 here in Orlando near UCF. It has been $1.67 since August, while gas prices have gone from around $1.50 in August to $1.73 now. Glad to be driving a diesel here.

Paid $1.46 last week here in SC, went to Atlanta and it was about $1.53 this weekend... Reg gas here is $1.67
...Not quite time to use the Kero/used ATF/gasoline cocktail some yahoo told me about.... I looked into the "home brew" Bio diesel route since I have free used cooking oil available to me but the cost of Lye and Methanol plus the time and effort don't justify the costs....... |

Benzcrusher,
Why not use 50/50 Diesel and WVO. It should be warm enough in SC for that. That would cut your cost in half. All you need is filters. P E H |

oh well
San Francisco $2.35 +++ per gallon.
Last week I cringed at $2.17 per gallon. It is on an upswing. Diesel is a high mark up item for stations.

Ha ha ha ha ...
P.E.H.,
Was it me you were reffering to with the name "Benzcrusher" ... ? I know, I know ... I crushed a benz. My beautiful ol' 115 is now sitting in a cube somewhere. But ya know, it kinda serves it right for taking so much of my hard earned money and time! And in reply to your recomendation on WVO ... I am currently installing a Greasel 18 gallon second tank system. I will post a writeup on my install and a brief review on the whole system shortly. (Diesel was 2.00 today! Thats cheap!) Cassidy
